Art366: Cyberfeminism + New Media Practices is an advanced new media studio/theory course taught by Krista Hoefle, Department of Art at Saint Mary's College. Using contemporary cybertheory and cyberfeminist fiction as a foundation, students will be exploring the tools and techniques of digital media through the lens of cyberfeminism. In the creation of digital artworks we will be exploring the key issues of cyberfeminism, including (but not limited to) cyborg identity/feminism, social networks, and database activism. Additionally, students will be collaboratively working on a wiki dedicated to their ongoing research associated with the themes investigated within the class. Texts: Reload: Rethinking Women + Cyberculture by Mary Flanagan and Austin Booth. Numerous additional readings, films, websurfing, in-class and virtual discussions, q+a with artists and writers will augment the text. Visiting Artist Joseph DeLappe will be working with students enrolled in Cyberfem for Spring 2011! Check back for more details and images of projects. Links:
